Saturday September 17th. After a full day of exhaustive racing I found Jimmy Leeward and his crew still working, fine-tuning' The Galloping Ghost for the Unlimited Gold Race Sunday that never was. 'Till 2011! Go Jimmy!
Addendum, October 2011 : We lost Jimmy,the Ghost and 11 Reno Air Race fans plus many terribly injured in the tragic events of September 17th 2011 when the much loved Mustang fighter broke and went into an unrecoverable departure from controlled flight. Published 9/17 by CNN

Yes, Miriam, a vast tragedy that is unfolding further with each passing day. Many Air Race fans are still hospitalized, may maimed, 11 dead. CNN ran this portrait on-air for 24 hrs, which I allowed them without charge, It ran front page on the New York Post, and the Smithsonian is calling the portrait 'spectacular'. That's what Mr. Leeward was...And there you are....Gus
